Where was the ride- East Bay, Rhode Island
For me, riding in new places holds great fascination; I feel like an explorer – Harrison Ford (I wish!) in his swashbuckling prime. But riding close to home, right from my garage, offers its own charms, and it’s not just about convenience. This ride from downtown Warren has a little bit of everything, and allows me enjoy varied landscapes without ever really leaving the ‘hood. From Water Street (and the town beach) I head east past the mills onto busy Child Street and into East Warren; then I continue into bucolic farmlands, and to the former summer resort colony at Touisset Point; then I cross the MA State Line into the modest bayside village of Ocean Grove before turning back along rural Providence Street to the East Bay bike path and home. Flat, accessible, pleasant, no fuss, no bike rack on the car… 22 miles as described, but easily extended into South Swansea or Rehoboth if I’m in the mood. And as your blog host Zulu Delta (who’s taken this ride with me several times) can attest, the Cumberland Farms in Ocean Grove offers a terrific place for a short break, should one be in the mood for an ever-satisfying Swiss Roll from my friend Little Debbie….

Where was the ride- TOUR de EDGEWOOD (EDGEWOOD SECTION OF CRANSTON, RI)
The Tour de Edgewood is the local ride around my neighborhood. It’s fun, relaxing, and very flat. It has wide streets that we ride in the middle of. We roll around slow while we chat about life, or listen to music sometimes by ourselves. We cycle past beautiful Narragansett Bay that we never get tired of looking at. We bump into family, friends, and neighbors. When we decide to quit riding, we’re home in a few minutes. If it’s a beautiful day or night, we go around again. This particular ride was 10.2 Miles. A piece of cake.
